Founder Justin Lawson
JUSTIN started teaching music lessons nearly 20 years ago and he wanted to give kids a place to be able to express themselves in any form of music and give them a safe haven to be different; to be something they thought they never could be.
He has taught all ages from 2 to 87 years old and over the course of the last 20 years he has personally face to face taught over 1000 students.
He teaches at least 13 instruments including a wide variety of guitar ranging from acoustic, electric, dorbro, bass guitar and ukulele. Additionally he is a fluent teacher for drums, piano, vocal, saxophone, trombone, flute, clarinet, percussion, trumpet, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, dulcimer, basically everything but orchestra instruments.
Making the Band ( now affectionately named Making the Band Central ) started officially in 2008 and while focusing mainly on children and teens for the bands he does on occasion work with older groups.
Since the official start, Making the Band Central has formed 61 groups not including this year’s bands. If he were to add the other solo performers he has had over 112 formal Acts.
Justin involves himself in the local community and charity events volunteering his time and talents unreservedly.
He owns a recording studio to help cultivate emerging talent and is a valuable member of the local music scene himself.
